Privacy Policy
Last Updated: October 2026
Core Privacy Guarantee: vDeskX operates 100% locally on your machine. We do not sell your data, we do not track your applications or browsing habits, and our licensing engine verifies your software offline without phoning home.
1. Zero Telemetry & User Privacy
vDeskX was specifically engineered as a native, private Windows desktop power utility:
- No Background Telemetry: vDeskX contains zero analytical SDKs, advertising trackers, device fingerprinting, or tracking beacons.
- Local Operation: All virtual desktop arrangements, shelf shortcuts, window positions, per-desktop wallpapers, and display settings remain strictly on your local disk in
%APPDATA%\vDeskX\(or in your application directory when using Portable Mode). - Offline Licensing: When you purchase a vDeskX license, your key is verified locally using embedded asymmetric cryptography (ECDSA P-256). It never contacts an activation server or transmits hardware hashes.
2. Diagnostics & Crash Reporting
To ensure high stability across thousands of monitor and GPU combinations, vDeskX includes an integrated diagnostic system:
- Local Minidumps: If an unhandled application exception occurs, a Windows minidump (
.dmp) and text report are written locally to%APPDATA%\vDeskX\crashes\. - Strictly Opt-In Sentry Submission: Upon restarting after a crash, vDeskX presents a clear prompt asking if you wish to transmit the diagnostic report to our development team via Sentry.io. Nothing is sent without your explicit click. You may review the report or dismiss it at any time.
- Sanitization: Minidumps contain call stack registers and module timestamps required to debug crashes; they do not contain personal files or browsing histories.
3. Website & Payment Data
When you visit vdeskx.com or purchase a license:
- Payments are processed securely through established Merchant-of-Record payment gateways (e.g. Gumroad or LemonSqueezy). vDeskX never sees, collects, or stores your credit card number or billing details.
- Customer support inquiries sent to
[email protected]are used solely to assist you with your inquiry and are never shared with third parties.
4. Operating System Permissions
vDeskX utilizes documented Win32 and COM Windows Shell APIs to:
- Listen for Windows Virtual Desktop change notifications.
- Set per-desktop wallpaper paths and multi-monitor display topologies via Windows display APIs.
- Switch audio playback/recording endpoints via the Windows Core Audio WASAPI interfaces.
- Issue DDC/CI commands over monitor I2C buses to adjust brightness and contrast.
All operations occur in user-space without kernel drivers or elevated administrative bypasses.
